One of the things people remember most about Dr. Taba Nirmali is her love for the flowers that she nurtured and loved even in her days of illness.

As a tribute, we present the story of a life reflected through two things that we cherish most about her: the love for flowers and poems and literature.

The below photos are taken from a booklet, it contains images from her garden which are taken by her; interspersed with poems and quotes that best connect to her. The accompanying photographs tell us of her life journey.

Dr. Taba Nirmali

(16th January 1964 - 13 February 2019)

Born at Gumto and spent her childhood there and at Doimukh.

Completed her schooling at the Government Higher Secondary School, Doimukh.

Studied medicine at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, and later shifted to Guwahati Medical College, Assam.

In 1988, she finished her MBBS and joined as a Medical Officer at Naharlagun General Hospital, becoming the first woman doctor from the Nyishi community. Gets married to Mr. Taba Tedir.

In 1997, she completed her ENT specialist's course from RIMS, Imphal, and joined as an ENT specialist at General Hospital, Naharlagun.

In 1999, to provide better healthcare in the state she co-founded, NIBA CLINIC with Dr. Moji Jini (now Director, TRIHMS) and Dr. Bengia Mala.

Spearheaded the " Smile Train " project at Niba Hospital which has provided free cleft palate surgery to more than 600 persons and also established the Arunachal Cancer Society.

In July 2011, she opted for voluntary retirement from Government Service and devoted herself to Public Work, contested elections from the 16-Yachuli assembly constitution later becoming BJP state secretary.

Appointed as a person of Arunachal Pradesh State Women Commission for a brief period and also served as an advisor to the Mr. Nyishi Nyem Acham.

Passed away peacefully with her family beside her on 13 February 2019.
